Kabul bombing kills 2 foreign soldiers

KABUL — Two foreign soldiers were killed Monday when a bomb detonated as their convoy passed by in the eastern part of the Afghan capital, the latest in a series of attacks on high-profile targets.

A spokesman for the International Security Assistance Force, the U.S.-led coalition in Afghanistan, said two of its soldiers were killed, but he declined to specify their nationalities, citing military protocol requiring that the victims’ families be first notified. Also, as per policy, the spokesman simply said that the assault occurred in eastern Afghanistan, without providing specifics.
